LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Clark County Fire Department says squatters may have caused an east Las Vegas fire.

Officials provided an update on a home fire in the 2400 block of East Viking Road Friday morning. This is near Flamingo and Eastern.

The house was two stories. Crews say the fire was contained to the back bedroom and garage area.

The cause is undetermined, but the fire may have been caused by squatters.

One person was removed from the basement area after the fire was knocked down. They denied medical help or transport.

CCFD says Las Vegas police took them into custody. FOX5 is reaching out for more details.

One person was reported in the attic. Crews searched and said no one was there.
