LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Clark County Fire Department responded to two overnight apartment fires in the southwest valley.

Around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, county firefighters responded to a fire in the 8100 block of Flamingo. Arriving units discovered heavy fire coming from the second floor of the Copper Sands apartment complex.

Five engines responded to the scene and extinguished the fire before it spread to other units.

At 1:50 a.m. on Thursday, CCFD was called to another fire in the 3200 block of Arville Street. Arriving crews found heavy fire coming from the first floor of a Shadow Ridge Apartment Homes complex.

Again, five engines responded and extinguished the fire before other units were affected.

LVMPD confirmed with FOX5 that a man was arrested in connection with the fire, and is accused of injuring a woman with a hammer.

CCFD reported that no firefighters or civilians were injured in the fire, but police later told FOX5 that a small dog was killed.

An investigation into the attack and fire remains ongoing.
