LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A new preschool in the Las Vegas Valley has served children who learn in all different ways. They hope to help families by cutting down on trips to different therapy appointments.

When Jasmine Baker first moved to Vegas, she says her days were filled with four to five hours of driving to different therapy appointments.

“It was mentally hard, it was like a job on the road,” Baker says. “My mental state was pretty low at the time.”

Then, she found Let’s Talk Child Development Center.

The new preschool has served children with varying abilities, offering speech, physical, occupational therapy and more, which are all offered on site.

“We have typical peers, but also peers with autism, down syndrome and cerebral palsy, rare genetic disorders, and we’re able to serve them all,” said Let’s Talk Child Development Center’s Founder, Adrienne Williams.

Williams says she was inspired by parents like Baker to open the preschool. She’s also the Founder, President and CEO of Let’s Talk Therapy Center, which has two locations in the Valley.

“I looked into our waiting room and there was a mama who was just weeping,” she shared. “I listened to her story, and she was saying that she didn’t have a life outside of her children. She couldn’t have friends, she couldn’t go on dates with her husband, she couldn’t work, because there was no one to watch her children.”

She says the preschool is filling a huge need in the valley, where inclusive preschool options are few and far in between.

“We have interviewed the parents, we have interviewed professionals, and we’ve asked, ‘what do you wish you could have in a preschool?’ And that’s what we’re creating here,” she expressed

As for Baker, she says she’s already seen improvements in the way her son walks and communicates.

FOX5’S Molly McBride: “Without it, what would you be doing?”

Jasmine Baker: “The same thing, because they deserve the therapy they have, so I’m going to do whatever it takes, even if it’s four to five hours in the car, driving to different locations.”

Thankfully for Baker, after the preschool opened its doors it has saved her four to five hours off the road.

In October, child care assistance programs went back to pre-pandemic coverage.

Williams says they’re working to raise money, so they can provide scholarships to children interested in attending.
