LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – FOX5 has learned the name of the toddler stabbed to death by her babysitter early Wednesday morning.
Around 3:30 a.m., Journei Ross was found lifeless by her father Jeremy inside their central valley home. He immediately called 911 and told dispatchers that a babysitter, later identified as Marketta Phillips, was responsible for the stabbing.
Arriving officers transported Journei to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Phillips was tracked down by police after she ran from the area, and was booked on an open murder charge.
She made her first appearance in court this morning. Journei’s parents, Jeremy Ross and Phalan Whitson, were also present.
The Clark County Coroner has ruled Journei’s death a homicide.
