LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A valley non-profit aimed at combating veteran suicide now has to close its doors.

FOX5 first introduced you to Forgotten Not Gone earlier this year. The organization offers free bike rides for veterans and shared how they’ve helped veterans who struggle with civilian life and their mental health.

Recently, they were not able to meet their $120,000 fundraising goal to cover their yearly lease at their northwest valley location.

Kelly Guidry and her husband Peter are the organization’s co-founders and tell FOX5 they have to pay up to $10,000 per month to keep their doors open.

“People keep saying, why don’t you charge them? Because the population we serve… it’s already hard for them to get outside of themselves and get out of the house. So now I’m going to charge you to come get better? I can’t do that without the support of the Vegas Strong community. It’s not going to happen,” Kelly said.

Kelly and Pete are both veterans and started the non-profit 10 years ago after realizing how riding a recumbent trike has helped them both.

Now they worry about the veterans they serve and the ones to come.

“It’s really unfortunate because they are coming behind us. They will be veterans, and if we are not proactive, they will be veterans in crisis,” Kelly said.

Forgotten Not Gone’s last day at their location is April 30.

They still do not know where they will store all their bikes and are for the public’s help finding any other location for their nonprofit.
