LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A parent is no longer allowed on site of a Las Vegas middle school after threats toward a teacher and student.

The incident at Dr. William H. Bailey Middle School was discussed at a CCSD Bond Oversight Committee meeting. Member Abraham Camejo read an email sent to him about the incident.

“On March 28, a parent entered [Bailey Middle School] during instructional time and threatened to shoot and kill the teacher that allegedly called her daughter ‘slow,’” he said. “She also threatened another student that her daughter pointed out.”

Camejo continued reading the email. He said the parent spent 20 minutes in the parking lot saying how she will put the school on a hard lockdown. She also said the school was “way too easy” to gain access.

Camejo said it’s been ongoing to install safety security gates at the school.

FOX5 also obtained a parent letter from the district discussing the matter.

“The CCSD Police Department responded to a call of a verbal altercation involving an adult on campus at Dr. William H. Bailey Middle School,” the district said. “As a result of the call, CCSDPD submitted a warrant against the individual for disturbance of a school and threats to a school employee.”

The parent is no longer allowed on property.

CCSD says it prioritizes the safety and wellness of its students. Security enhancements are continuing.

“CCSD focuses on creating a controlled single point of entry on campuses, bolstering perimeter fencing, and modernizing security camera systems.”
