LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metro Police are investigating a deadly pedestrian collision in the southwest valley.
According to LVMPD, the collision occurred just before 5 p.m. on Warm Springs Road.
Officers at the scene collected witness statements and a Tesla vehicle video which indicated a 2008 Volkswagen Passat failed to maintain driving in the lane along west Warm Springs. As the pedestrian was walking eastbound the driver made its way onto the sidewalk striking “a luminary support” and the pedestrian.
The pedestrian was thrown westward and located on the sidewalk. The 23-year-old male pedestrian died at the scene.
Police report the driver remained on scene and showed sign of impairment. Daniel Stakleff, 38, was arrested and faces DUI charges.
LVMPD says the collision marks the 63rd traffic related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2025 so far.
The incident remains under investigation.
FOX5 crews located a memorial site of another deadly collision that happened weeks prior to this incident. The memorial at the corner of the intersection was in honor of Christopher Soto, 22, who was killed while riding a scooter.
This is a developing story, check back for updates.
