LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Protecting seniors from sophisticated scammers.
The Solera Community Center in Henderson hosted a fraud prevention seminar for seniors called, “Robbery Not Reported.”
The presentation educated seniors on how scammers can steal their money, data and identity. It also taught seniors the risks, how to spot the warning signs and protect themselves from scams.
FOX5 spoke with a man who attended the seminar. Paul Block said he lost $3,000 to a cryptocurrency scam but knows someone who lost $100,000 to a romance scam.
“The need to communicate and educate and report,” he said. “Not to have shame or to be embarrassed about things. The more we talk about it with one another, the more we talk about it within our communities, the more we can fight the problem.”
