LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – Las Vegas Metropolitan Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting near Rainbow and Vegas Drive.

The incident was reported just after 1:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of N. Rainbow Boulevard. Police said no officers have been reported injured as of 1:50 p.m.

According to a source, the suspect is down. The source said the incident was at the Las Vegas Athletic Club in the area.

The source also said it was originally reported as an active shooter situation, but it was later determined that it was not an active shooter.

Sources confirm area schools were briefly locked down: McMillan Elementary, Fong Elementary, Katz Elementary. Lockdowns have since been lifted.

Traffic cameras indicate LVMPD and Las Vegas Fire responding to the scene.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue said SWAT is clearing the building and described it as an “active” scene.
