LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The woman who was arrested for child abuse after a little boy was hit by a car has been released from jail.

Court records show charges against her have been dropped which is why FOX5 has chosen to not name her.

However, we have learned she is the girlfriend of the little boy’s dad.

Last week, police said a 4 -year-old was alone and ‘darted’ into the road when he was hit by a car near Jeanne and Lake Mead. The boy was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, according to police.

FOX5 was able to find the girlfriend of the dad to get her side of what happened.

Victoria: First of all how is he doing I know a lot of people are worried about him?

Woman: He is doing good.

Victoria: Is he still in the hospital?

Woman: Yes.

Victoria: Were you asleep at that time?

Woman: But I did go check on him.

Woman: I am devastated about what happened.

Woman: Of course I was there. Of course, he was sleep when I saw him in the room he was laying down. So I felt like OK I am going to sleep and when he wake up I am going to just be with him, of course I wouldn’t just leave him unattended.

Victoria: When did you realize he was out of the house?

Woman: I realized it right away.

Woman: Of course I was freaked out. I couldn’t imagine my life was upside down from there. He is like my own. So of course I was sad I didn’t know what to think. I was praying, that’s all I could do was pray and pray that he was still alive. Its hard to talk about i.

The woman told FOX5 precautions to keep the doors secure were made. She said there was a top lock, bottom lock and the gate as well was locked.

“I haven’t seen him open doors like that,” the woman said.

However, she said this was a hard lesson learned.

“Just be more cautious about getting locks,” she said.
