LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The victim shot and killed inside a Las Vegas AutoZone was a former employee, according to a report.
FOX5 obtained the arrest report for Kyle Capucci, 36. He is accused of killing 21-year-old David Carcamo. Court records show he faces open murder with a deadly weapon.
The shooting happened Friday afternoon near Charleston and Fremont inside an AutoZone.
According to the report and interviews with employees, Carcamo entered the store with a man named James. He was trying to fix his car. Police noted he was openly carrying a firearm at his waist.
A moment later, Capucci would enter the store “acting erratic,” banging the entrance door behind him and pacing inside, according to the report.
Las Vegas police would interview a manager at the AutoZone who said Carcamo and James approached Capucci to ask if something was wrong. That’s when the suspect would lunge toward Carcamo, and a fight ensued.
Capucci managed to get Carcamo’s firearm out of its holster and use it to shoot him. The manager told police he heard about seven to eight gunshots. Witnesses say the suspect left the store and fled eastbound.
Medical arrived moments later and said the victim died at the scene. The AutoZone manager told police that Carcamo was an old co-worker.
Metro would signal to a nearby patrol car Capucci’s description. He would be found by officers nearby at Charleston and 13th Street. Police detained him and found blood on his hands and shirt.
In an interview with Capucci, police believed he was in a “mental crisis.” He told police he tried to dodge someone attempting to shoot him in the head.
Capucci acknowledged shooting and killing Carcamo. Police placed him under arrest for open murder with a deadly weapon.
Capucci was due in court Wednesday morning for an initial appearance. Records show he remains in custody without bail.
