LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – A 61-year-old man is dead after a crash in central Las Vegas, where police say he was not wearing a seatbelt.

Las Vegas Metro Police said the crash happened at 9:57 p.m. Sunday on Maryland Parkway and Katie Avenue, near Flamingo Road. Police said the man was driving a 2005 Nissan Altima, and the other driver involved was driving a Mercedes.

Police said the Nissan was traveling eastbound on Katie Avenue, attempting to make a left turn at a flashing yellow light, when it turned into the path of the Mercedes, striking the left front of that vehicle.

According to police, the Nissan driver was not wearing a seatbelt and died at an area hospital.

Police said the Mercedes driver did not show signs of impairment. The crash remains under investigation by Las Vegas police.

The driver’s death marks the 84th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction for the year 2025.
