LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A man died Sunday after police said his motorcycle collided with a boulder, throwing him from the vehicle.
According to a release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s traffic bureau, just before 8:30 a.m. Sunday, a motorcycle struck a boulder on Scenic Loop Drive between mile markers 8 and 9, also known as the Red Rock Loop in the west valley.
Investigators said witness statements and other evidence suggested the motorcyclist, identified only as a 30-year-old man, was speeding east on Scenic Loop Drive and “failed to negotiate a curve” before striking the boulder and being thrown from the motorcycle.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The LVMPD Traffic Investigation Section will collaborate with the Nevada State Patrol on a coordinated investigation, police said.
