LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – On January 30, a woman filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court of Nevada, alleging that Bill Cosby sexually assaulted her in a Las Vegas hotel suite in 1986.
The plaintiff’s complaint stated that she was 15-years-old when Cosby first saw a photo of her on her stepmother’s desk at the company where she worked with the defendant. After learning that she was studying acting and modeling, Cosby reportedly called the girl’s grandmother and introduced himself. Cosby reportedly said that the plaintiff “had a future in modeling, acting and entertainment” and that he would be interested in helping her.
A relationship allegedly developed between the defendant and the plaintiff’s grandmother, with Cosby making visits to the girl’s home on at least four occasions over the next two years, according to court documents.
“Cosby would bring Jello pudding pops for the children,” the complaint stated.
In or around October 1986, when the plaintiff was 17, Cosby reportedly told the girl’s grandmother that he was in Las Vegas with a professional photographer from a modeling agency. He said he wanted the girl to do a script reading for the defendant and have her headshots taken.
The two met in Cosby’s room—the Elvis Presley Suite—at the Las Vegas Hilton. She was reportedly taken up to the suite in a private elevator.
After the photographer took pictures of the plaintiff, she said in the complaint that Cosby gave her a blue capsule because she mentioned having a sinus problem. Court documents say he gave her a glass of Amaretto to take it with.
He gave her another glass when a vocal coach arrived and helped her read from a script. Cosby later told her that she needed to lie down and he allegedly led her down a corridor to a bedroom.
She said she awoke after the sexual assault to find her clothes on a dresser, along with a stack of $100 bills. Cosby reportedly then ushered her out of the room and put her in an elevator.
The plaintiff said that Cosby called her a few days later to ask how she was doing. When she told him she wasn’t doing well, he reportedly replied by saying that “people that talk too much can be quieted.”
A few days after the assault, the plaintiff said she was fired from her job at the Las Vegas Hilton despite being told by her manager to take a few days off. In the complaint, she says that she was also “black-balled” in the entertainment industry and was unable to find work.
She filed claims for sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor, battery, assault, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. She is seeking compensatory and punitive damages.
