LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas City Council has opened its applications for an interim Ward 2 representative after former councilwoman Victoria Seaman resigned.

Seaman stepped down from her position late August for a new role as the regional director for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Denver Regional Office. She ran for mayor of Las Vegas in 2024 against the now-elected Mayor Shelley Berkley.

The city says Ward 2 residents interested in serving as an interim council member can apply here until 5 p.m. Friday. Officials said the turnaround is short to meet Nevada open meeting law requirements and to appoint someone by the Sept. 17 meeting.

The position will run through July or Dec. 2026 depending on the outcome of the 2026 primary election. A new Ward 2 representative will be elected in the 2026 election.

The city says the person appointed must be a resident within Ward 2, which is in west Las Vegas around Summerlin Parkway. Applicants must also be registered to vote or eligible to register to vote.
