LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 50-year-old Las Vegas man is in critical condition after a crash while riding a motorcycle in west Las Vegas, police say.
Las Vegas Metro Police said the crash happened just after 5 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Desert Inn Road and Biscayne Bay Drive, near Fort Apache. Police said the other driver involved was an 85-year-old Las Vegas man who drove a Nissan Altima.
Police said the Altima driver traveled westbound on Desert Inn in a center turn lane. At the same moment, the motorcyclist rode eastbound on Desert Inn approaching the intersection.
According to a media release, the Altima driver turned and drove in front of the motorcyclist’s path, causing a crash. The man flew off his motorcycle and came to rest on a nearby sidewalk.
Medical arrived and transported the motorcyclist to UMC Trauma where his injuries were deemed life-threatening. Police say the other driver remained at the scene and did not show signs of impairment.
The collision remains under investigation by LVMPD’s Collision Investigation Section.
