LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metro Police released body camera footage of a Nevada state senator reportedly asleep behind the wheel in the east valley.
Edgar Flores is a democrat representing District 2 and was first elected in November 2022. He was found near the intersection of Lamb and Lake Mead boulevards after 3 a.m. Friday. According to video and an arrest report, he looked slumped over in the driver’s seat and seemed to be asleep.
An officer who later arrived to the scene attempted to wake Flores. Police say Flores “appeared confused and disoriented, looking side to side without focus,” when he woke.

In a statement, Flores said he had been tired after a long day of work, community events, exercise and a late dinner.
According to the arrest report, he did not pass the field sobriety tests. Police say his speech was also soft and delayed, eyes droopy and he had a slight smell of alcohol. According to the report, Flores admitted to drinking one beer around midnight.

The report says Flores voluntarily submitted a breathalyzer and a blood test at the police station.
