LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officials have identified the 24-year-old Las Vegas man arrested in a deadly northwest Las Vegas shooting.

The man died after police said his girlfriend’s adult son shot him during a verbal altercation. Police said they received reports of a shooting around 9:55 a.m. Sunday in the 10600 block of Mount Blackburn Avenue, near the intersection of Hualapai Way and Grand Teton Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds and another man, identified as Akili Porter, 24, inside the house. The unidentified man died at the scene.

Investigators determined that the victim and Porter were arguing when Porter pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the victim. Police say Porter exited the house but then came back and shot the victim multiple times.

Porter was taken into custody and booked into the Clark County detention Center. He faces charges for open murder with a deadly weapon.
