LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Harry Reid Airport has set up a pantry to help TSA employees as the government shutdown enters its fourth week, making it harder for some federal workers to pay their bills.
The airport is providing a variety of supplies for TSA employees through the pantry program. Starting tomorrow, about 1,500 TSA employees will go without pay.
Clark County commissioners say they value the contributions of airport employees. According to the county, the airport makes an economic impact in the valley of about $35 billion.
“They’ve got to do what they’ve got to do, right? We just need to make sure that we give them every reason to be here, and we’re doing that,” said Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson.
Anyone can donate to the effort by contacting the airport control center. The airport is accepting donations at the Terminal One departures area.
