LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — New tourism statistics from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority released Wednesday show a months-long slide in visitation to Las Vegas continued into September.
Compared to Sept. 2024, Las Vegas saw an 8.8% decrease in visitors, with approximately 3.1 million people coming to the sports and entertainment capital of the world.
Convention attendance saw a steep decline, down 18.7% compared to the same period in 2024. Officials cited the absence of the MINEExpo, which was held in September 2024, as well as a shift for the Oracle CloudWorld show, which occurred in October rather than September, as it was last year.
A 5.2% decrease in occupancy and a 2.9% decline in average daily rate resulted in 9% less revenue per room than in September 2024.
The “Welcome to Fabulous” campaign, which aimed to boost visitation to Las Vegas, launched in the middle of Sept.. The effort included refreshed imagery, new commercials, and a renewed experience in the Harry Reid International Airport rideshare pickup area, alongside a “fabulous 5-day sale” which offered online deals on resorts, restaurants, entertainment and experiences.
