
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Clark County School District Police officer pleaded no contest after a K-9 died from possible heat-related issues.
54-year-old James Harris was facing misdemeanor charges for allegedly leaving K9 Marley inside a hot patrol vehicle for over six hours at Foothill High School on Nov. 14, 2024.
Harris originally pleaded not guilty on March 25. On Wednesday, Harris entered a no contest plea on and received credit for time served.
According to an affidavit obtained by FOX5, Harris allegedly admitted he did not check on the dog all day. The K9 was left inside the vehicle without any water or restroom breaks.
When Harris came back to the vehicle, he moved to a different spot before calling in assistance for Marley.
