LAS VEGAS, Nev. (KOLO) – The Nevada National Guard will be deployed to Las Vegas for the Formula 1 Grand Prix.
Around 130 soldiers and airmen will be activated to support local emergency response agencies and first responders from Nov. 20 to Nov. 22.
This will be the third consecutive year the Guard will deploy for the Grand Prix.
Members of the Guard will deploy to race locations and hospitals in the metro area to mitigate security threats or emergency incidents that may arise.
“The deployment is a testament to the ongoing partnership between the Nevada National Guard and local emergency response agencies, showcasing their commitment to public safety and effective collaboration in times of need,” said Col. Kyle Cerfoglio, Nevada National Guard Joint Staff director. “The Nevada National Guard represents the best of our community. We are Nevadans helping Nevadans.”
