MONO COUNTY, California (KOLO) – A state of emergency has been declared for Mono County following the Pack Fire.
California Governor Gavin Newsom issued the emergency on Tuesday to support ongoing recovery efforts in areas impacted by the fire.
The fire ignited on Nov. 13 near Lake Crowley and destroyed 30 structures and damaged six others. It was declared fully contained on Dec. 3.
The proclamation authorizes an expedited cleanup of debris and household hazardous waste and unlocks state resources like low interest disaster loans for those affected by the fire.
“This emergency declaration is a critical step forward in helping our community recover,” said Sandra Moberly, Mono County Administrative Officer. “We are grateful to the State for stepping in, and we remain committed to working hand-in-hand with impacted residents, businesses, and responders to restore safety and rebuild what was lost.”
Mono County officials are coordinating with state agencies to help affected residents apply for relief and clear debris.
