The fire broke out at a commercial complex with multiple businesses near Valley View and Spring Mountain. LVMPD’s Drone as First Responder unit was requested to assist CCFD with the response.
The drone team provided live overhead video and thermal imaging to fire crews on the ground, helping identify hidden hot spots and reignitions that were not visible from street level.
The drones also assisted crews as firefighters climbed onto the roof to continue battling the blaze. The drone team kept personnel informed of danger areas and heat signatures that could not be seen from below through live video feeds and coordinated radio communication.
CCFD was able to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading. No injuries to fire personnel were reported.
LVMPD said the response demonstrates the drone program’s capabilities in supporting public safety missions beyond crime-fighting.
