LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A 31-year-old mother was found dead Wednesday morning inside her southwest Las Vegas home after her 7-year-old son called 911, police said.
Friends and family identified the woman as Briana Flowers. Police said she was found dead along with another man in what they are investigating as a double homicide.
Loved ones said Amill McClelland, Flowers’ son, woke up to find his mother in a life-threatening condition and called 911. By the time officers arrived, two people had died.
“I just want Briana to know that her family loves her,” said Shatiera Davis, Amill’s godmother. “We’re going to step up and make sure Emil has that foundation that he needs in this time. We’re going to make sure he’s okay.”
Recent domestic violence incident
Family members and friends said Flowers reached out on Jan. 21 about a domestic violence incident involving her boyfriend, saying police were called and that she had bruises and injuries requiring medical care.
“She basically told me her ex-boyfriend had tried to kill her,” said Davis.
Loved ones said Flowers had been ignoring calls from unknown numbers and noticed suspicious activity around her home.
“She saw someone looking in her blinds in her house while she was asleep,” Davis said. “She told me, she said, I just had a feeling to wake up and I looked out my window and someone was staring at me.”
The friend said Flowers went outside and saw someone get into an Uber, and she believed it was her ex-boyfriend.
Metro has not confirmed whether or not these cases are related.
Friends providing support
Friends had been staying with Flowers at her home to help her feel safe. They said more recently, a man from Belize had been with her, and they believe he may be the man who also died.
Family members said the past year had been difficult for Flowers. They said her mother recently passed away, and Flowers had taken custody of her sisters while trying to hold everything together.
Davis says she will do anything to support Amill and described Briana’s deep love for her child, “She just wanted to see Emile’s smile…she just wants to spend time and make his birthdays as special as possible for him. He loves cars and dinosaurs. So, she’s always trying to do something around that.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing and no suspect has been taken into custody. It is unclear if the double homicide is related to domestic violence at this time. Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers.
