LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — An 80-year-old pedestrian is dead after a hit-and-run crash in northeast Las Vegas Sunday night.

The crash happened just after 7:30 p.m. on East Lake Mead Boulevard, west of North Lamb Boulevard. According to Metro, an 80-year-old man was riding a mobility scooter outside of a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a Mercury Mariner SUV driving west on Lake Mead Boulevard.

The pedestrian was thrown onto the road and the mobility scooter got stuck under the SUV’s front end.

The driver of the SUV fled the scene, according to Metro. Medical personnel determined the pedestrian was beyond resuscitation and pronounced him dead at the scene of the crash.

The SUV, its driver and its passenger were later located. The driver was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for hit-and-run charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
