LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Local barbers are helping kids sharpen their reading skills.

The “Read With My Barber 2026” initiative is part of Nevada Reading Week. Next week, children who read a book to their barber will receive a free haircut, the city says.

What to expect

Participating shops say they will have age-appropriate books available for young readers. Some barbers will also serve as guest readers at nearby elementary schools.

It is happening next Wednesday and Thursday at participating barbershops. The goal is to encourage literacy through mentorship and community engagement.
