LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Nevada Department of Transportation is unveiling a new roadmap to save lives.

The 2026 to 2030 Strategic Highway Safety Plan is a data-driven effort to reduce traffic fatalities.

Nevada road deaths and injuries

Between 2019 and 2023, Nevada recorded over 1,600 deaths and nearly 7,000 serious injuries on its roads.

The state is now striving for a 35% reduction in these crashes by 2035.

Long-term goal

The ultimate long-term goal is “zero fatalities” by 2050.

The plan uses crash data to guide targeted strategies addressing the highest-risk factors.
