LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Locals gathered for the premiere of a music video celebrating the Las Vegas Valley’s first-ever Filipino Town.
Almost a year ago, Clark County formally designated part of Maryland Parkway as Filipino Town, an official cultural district.
Local Filipino leaders rolled out the music video as a way to debut the cultural district’s theme song and jingle.
The theme song is called Isang Cultura, Isang Pamana, which in English is “One Culture and One Legacy.”
The jingle, titled Sa Puso Nang Disierto, translates to “In the heart of the desert” in English.

Organizers say the songs and video are meant to give the more than 200,000 Filipino Americans in the Valley a shared identity and unite many different community groups under one cultural home.
“This is more than just a jingle. This is actually… it represents the Filipino heart and soul. We are happy. We are family-oriented and deeply rooted,” said Bing Longakit, who wrote the jingle.
Longakit said the song was inspired by Filipino culture and traditions.
“When I thought about composing this song, I thought about the festivals in the Philippines, our culture, our traditions, and put them all in music. So this music will not only make you feel, it will make you dance, it will make you feel like you’re back home,” Longakit said.
Next month, Filipino Town will host a one-year anniversary festival at the Mission Center Shopping Center on April 11.
