LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Metropolitan Police warn the public to expect road closures in downtown Las Vegas on Saturday, ahead of nationwide “No Kings” protests.

The protest is planned by the group Indivisible Las Vegas.

The group announced a planned march around the following perimeter: Las Vegas Boulevard to 3rd Street, in between Bridger and Bonneville.

The protest is scheduled from 4-7 p.m., with a stage outside the Federal Courthouse. Speakers and performances are planned.

Indivisible and the City of Las Vegas tell FOX5 that permits are still being finalized.

The group tells FOX5 that it’s been working for months on permits and required barricades, and costs have soared upwards of the projected $9,500.

LVMPD has the following guidance on protests, which include local laws and prohibited items: Protest Safety “We are committed to upholding every individual’s constitutional right to protest and assemble peacefully. We recognize and respect the vital role free expression plays in our democracy. While we support your right to be heard, we urge all participants to do so peacefully—without violence, disruption, or harm to life, property, or our community,” the site states.

Athar Haseebullah tells FOX5,there’s hopes that protests in a designated area can help mitigate unnecessary law enforcement encounters.

“The message is, go out and have fun. Be vocal. You can get loud. Hold your signs. You can make sure that you’re showing up, and you should do that. But don’t go past that point, right? The protest is about all of us together,” Haseebullah said, also encouraging the few who want to create disorder to stay away.

“I view them as infiltrators. I view them as people who are trying to undermine the movement. So I’d encourage infiltrators to stay away,” he said.
