LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — National Nurses Week begins May 6 with a focus on the power of nurses, but new data shows administrative work is creating backlogs for healthcare teams.
76% of healthcare leaders say administrative work is overwhelming their teams, according to data from Edge. Fifty-six percent experience weekly or daily administrative backlogs.

The greatest strain is concentrated in compliance and regulatory reporting at 47%, billing and revenue cycle at 44.5%, scheduling and intake at 42.9%, and documentation workflows at 43%, according to the data.
National Nurses Week runs May 6-12. The theme for this year is the power of nurses.
Dr. Rihan Javid, co-founder of Edge, said administrative burden impacts physicians.
“Physicians are increasingly asked to shoulder administrative tasks—prior authorizations, portal messages, billing follow-ups—that add hours of work to their week,” Javid said. “We’ve seen that practices who invest in compliance-trained, high-caliber administrative support are better positioned to recruit and retain physicians.”
