LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Governor Joe Lombardo thanked teachers across Nevada with a letter to educators and a proclamation recognizing Teacher Appreciation Week.
The letter was sent to the state’s 74,360 licensed educators.
“You are shaping the next generation of Nevadans, and the progress we are making as a state would not be possible without your tireless efforts,” Lombardo said in his letter. “For that, I am deeply grateful.”
This year’s Teacher Appreciation Week comes as the state nearly doubled the amount of state-funded pre-K seats in the Nevada Ready program. Lombardo also reaffirmed his commitment to educators, securing $250 million for teacher pay raises in 2023 and continuing efforts to make those raises permanent and extend them to charter schoolteachers in 2025.
“I want to be clear: my commitment to Nevada’s educators isn’t temporary, it’s ongoing,” Lombardo said. “Today and in the years ahead, I will continue working alongside you to address what matters most: competitive compensation, access to classroom resources, and preparing our students with a modernized, dynamic education.”
