LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month has died from his injuries, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The 30-year-old man was pronounced dead at University Medical Center on May 12, police said. He had been hospitalized with life-threatening injuries since the collision on May 2.
The crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. at East Charleston Boulevard and North Mojave Road. Evidence at the scene and surveillance video showed the pedestrian was walking a dog and crossing Charleston Boulevard from south to north on the west side of the intersection.
The pedestrian was in a marked crosswalk but was walking against the traffic control signal, police said. An unknown dark-colored SUV was traveling westbound on Charleston Boulevard in the left travel lane when the pedestrian crossed into its path. The front of the SUV collided with the right side of the pedestrian, projecting him forward onto the roadway.
The driver of the SUV failed to remain at the scene and fled the area.
Police located the vehicle involved in the collision on May 8. The vehicle was identified as a blue 2015 Toyota RAV4. The driver remains outstanding.
The pedestrian’s death marked the 42nd traffic-related fatality in the LVMPD’s jurisdiction for 2026.
