LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The man accused of firing a gun at police as he fled onto a North Las Vegas school campus was due in court Tuesday morning, but remains hospitalized, according to officials.

Jallel Jenkins-Harris was arrested last week after being accused of shoplifting from a store near 5th Street and Deer Springs Way, then running from arriving officers. He is also accused of pointing a weapon at officers multiple times, and at one point, exchanging gunfire with them on a school campus.

According to an arrest report, Jenkins-Harris was linked to a nearby attempted home invasion where a sliding glass door was shattered. Police air units tracked Jenkins-Harris until he walked near the baseball and softball fields at Legacy High School while armed.

Hall monitors in the school later told officers Jenkins-Harris fired a shot at them from about 60 to 100 yards away, causing them to retreat inside as the school was placed on lockdown.

Jenkins-Harris is currently facing charges of Robbery, Assault, Resist Public Officer with Use of a Firearm, Attempt Home Invasion, and Assault with Use of a Deadly Weapon.

Jenkins-Harris will be due back in court next week, according to court officials.
