LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Caesars Entertainment is teaming up with a local nonprofit to turn leftover convention food into meals for families in need.

The company announced a new partnership with The Just One Project, one of Southern Nevada’s leading food access groups. The goal is to rescue surplus food from meetings, conventions and events at Caesars resorts on the Strip instead of letting it go to waste.

The program launched with a four-day conference that generated nearly 4,500 pounds of extra food — enough for about 3,749 meals for people around the Las Vegas Valley. Caesars also donated $50,000 to support The Just One Project’s work.

The nonprofit will regularly pick up excess food from select events, package it safely and send it out through a network of partner organizations serving food-insecure families. Caesars employees in the HERO volunteer network will help collect, pack and distribute those meals.

Caesars says the partnership cuts food waste, supports local nonprofits and creates more volunteer opportunities for its team members.
