LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Las Vegas man accused of shooting and killing his neighbor during an altercation two years ago, pleaded guilty in court Tuesday morning.

Eddie Moreno, 32, told police that he shot his neighbor, Joe Moreno, after he returned home from a family event and saw the man looking into his backyard.

He claimed to police that the man was “acting aggressive” and approached him “with his hand in his pants”, according to an arrest report.

Moreno says he shot his neighbor as he stepped over the property line.

During Tuesday’s hearing, Moreno agreed to plead guilty to downgraded charge of voluntary manslaughter with a deadly weapon as part of a plea agreement.

The charge carries one to 10 years in prison, with a mandatory consecutive one to 10 years for the deadly weapon enhancement and a chance at probation.

Moreno’s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 29.
