LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Data centers are on the Clark County Commission agenda again Tuesday morning, and environmental advocates have announced a rally ahead of the meeting.
According to commission meeting agenda, commissioners are expected to discuss the “application process and approval criteria” around data center projects in unincorporated Clark County. This discussion comes after the commission previously approved an expansion for Switch data center in the southwest valley.

In response, the Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter announced plans to hold a press conference and rally ahead of the meeting outside the Clark County Commission Chambers. The group is also calling for a moratorium on new data center approvals.

The Sierra Club Toiyabe Chapter said it has worked with several local governments in Nevada to advance moratoria on new data center approvals. The group said it is asking Clark County to pause new approvals while the county determines how, or if, data centers should move forward in the region.
The group’s press conference is scheduled for 8:20 a.m. at the Government Center, ahead of the commission’s meeting at 9 a.m.
