LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Nearly a year after a major fire tore through the University Gardens shopping center near UNLV, the property has been cleared of debris and shows few signs of the blaze that destroyed eight businesses.
Charred beams and blackened debris remained at the site for months after the July 25, 2025, fire near Maryland Parkway and Harmon Avenue, but the area has been cleaned up recently, according to officials.

Video from the night of the fire showed heavy flames engulfing the two-story strip mall. Firefighters said the building did not have a sprinkler system, and one tenant told FOX5 the structure burned “like paper.”
Clark County fire investigators later determined the site was too dangerous for further investigation and ruled the cause of the fire accidental.
