LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley received a box of barbecue from Raleigh, North Carolina Mayor Janet Cowell following the Carolina Hurricanes’ Stanley Cup championship win over the Vegas Golden Knights.
In a video posted to social media, Berkley unpacked the delivery on camera, describing the contents as barbecue sauce, collard greens and what she said appeared to be five pounds of meat.

“I am absolutely delighted that the mayor of Raleigh, North Carolina, home of the Hurricanes, sent us a box of barbecue,” Berkley said. “She told me this is the best barbecue in the country. And I am so grateful to her for being so gracious.”
Berkley said Cowell’s gesture stood out given the outcome of the series. “Even though, as we know, the Hurricanes won the Stanley Cup and not the Golden Knights, she is giving us a gift,” Berkley said. “And I’m very grateful to her.”
Berkley addressed Raleigh residents directly at the close of the video. “We, the citizens of the city of Las Vegas, love you. And we love doing business with you,” she said.
Berkley added that she hopes the Golden Knights will have an opportunity to return the favor. “Next year, maybe — I’m hoping that the Golden Knights win the Stanley Cup, and we will graciously reciprocate,” she said.
