LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A Good Samaritan was shot and later died at a hospital for trying to stop a man who stole flowers from a woman.
Officials with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said a call came in around 5 p.m. about gunfire in the area of Jones and Upland boulevards, near I-11. Arriving officers said they saw a car that appeared to have struck a tree.
Lt. Robert Price said the person inside the car, a Hispanic man in his late 30s, was suffering from a gunshot wound. Police said he was transported to UMC, but later died.

Price said witnesses described the suspect to patrol. He was described as a Black man in his late 20s. Police said he was taken into custody without incident.
According to Metro’s investigation, the suspect approached a woman selling flowers. The victim saw the theft and tried to stop the suspect.
Police said the suspect then shot the victim. He was later arrested a couple of blocks away.
