LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — President Donald J. Trump is visiting Las Vegas to promote recent tax relief initiatives aimed at American workers, according to White House officials.
The president will deliver remarks at 1:30 p.m. at the Red Rock Casino, Resort & Spa.
The visit comes as part of a broader effort to highlight the administration’s economic platform and the Republican-led Working Families Tax Cuts.
Tax Relief Focus
During his remarks, Trump will focus on policies designed to reduce the tax burden on working class families, including proposals to eliminate federal taxes on tips, Social Security benefits, and overtime pay.
White House spokesperson Liz Huston stated that these tax cuts “guaranteed Americans receive bigger paychecks and keep more of their hard-earned money.”
Battleground Economics
Nevada remains a critical battleground state, and its service-heavy economy means tax policy—particularly regarding tips—is a central issue for local voters. A significant portion of the Las Vegas workforce relies on service industry tips, making the state a focal point for the national tax debate.
Trump is expected to use the Nevada platform to contrast his economic agenda with that of congressional Democrats, who opposed the tax reform measures.
Nevada Democratic Response
Nevada State Democratic Party Chair Daniele Monroe-Moreno released the following statement in response to Donald Trump traveling to Nevada:
“Joe Lombardo’s ‘commanding officer’ Donald Trump is coming to town next week while Nevadans are getting crushed by sky-high grocery, utility, housing, and health care bills. As Trump’s approval ratings sink underwater by double digits in Nevada, Lombardo continues to ignore the reality that working families are facing and cave to the president’s cost-raising agenda every chance he gets.”

As Trump’s illegal tariffs continue to pummel Nevada’s economy and turn tourists away, Lombardo said Nevadans should “feel a little pain” from this erratic agenda.
After Lombardo was quick to back Trump’s seemingly endless war with Iran, he also signed a letter urging Congress to spend more taxpayer dollars on this reckless conflict — all while gas prices hit $5 a gallon again in Northern Nevada.
Lombardo said he saw “definite benefits” from Trump’s illegal tariffs, falsely claiming that “because of [tariff] revenue, we’re domesticating manufacturing. We’re domesticating jobs back into the United States. That number has increased significantly.” In reality, U.S. manufacturing employment was down 98,000 jobs in Trump’s first full 12 months back in office.
Nevada’s economy has one of the worst unemployment rates in the nation and Trump’s policies only threaten to keep that number growing as tourism and travel to the state continue to decline.
Lombardo said Nevadans should be “excited” about the GOP budget betrayal despite tens of thousands of Nevadans losing their health care coverage and food assistance.
