LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is honoring fallen Officer Austin Abdelnabi.
The procession departed Palm Mortuary, near Jones and Oakey, at 9 a.m. on Friday, August 14.
The funeral is taking place at Central Church, located at 1001 New Beginnings Drive.
The procession will continue through the following route:
- Head north on Jones Blvd, merge onto southbound I-11/US-95, and then onto southbound I-15.
- Exit at Sahara Ave (east), turn south onto Las Vegas Blvd, and continue to I-215 East.
- Take I-11/US-95 north, exit at Russell Rd, and enter the Central Church parking lot.

Motorists should anticipate traffic delays in and around the area until about 10:00 a.m.
Officer Abdelnabi was shot and killed in the line of duty while responding to a call regarding a man with a gun near Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street on Tuesday, August 4.
Officials say Officer Abdelnabi was ambushed by a suspect, later identified as 21-year-old Angel Lucas Lindsey.
Officer Abdelnabi is survived by his parents, his siblings, and his wife, Sage.
