LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Nevada Highway Patrol, a division of the Nevada State Police, is investigating a fatal crash that closed northbound Interstate 15 just south of Flamingo Road.
Road closure
All northbound I-15 travel lanes at Russell Road were shut down for the investigation. Northbound I-15 traffic was diverted onto Interstate 215.

What happened
Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a report of a crash at the location on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026, at 1:27 a.m. The crash involved a pickup truck and a pedestrian.
One adult male pedestrian was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of impairment.
NHP dispatch was notified at 8:29 a.m. that the pedestrian had died from his injuries at the hospital.
