LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — Gray Elementary School unveiled a remodeled library Wednesday, the first campus makeover completed through a partnership between the Clark County School District and the College Football Playoff Foundation.

The school, near Rainbow and Sahara, held a ribbon-cutting for the newly remodeled library. The project is designed to support the district’s early literacy initiatives outlined in the Destination District strategic plan.

Upgrades include new seating areas for students, new tables and separate activity zones where students can take part in STEAM-focused projects.

Teacher reaction

Angela Zobrak, a second-grade teacher at Gray Elementary School, said the new seating area benefits students.

“I love the seating area here that helps the students; it just makes them feel like they can be comfortable in a learning environment instead of sitting in rock-hard chairs all day,” Zobrak said. “I’ve been here a long time, and it just feels good knowing that we are doing good things in this district to make sure that students are successful.”

Districtwide project

The College Football Playoff Foundation and classroom supply retailer School Specialty are co-sponsoring 15 Clark County School District school makeovers, each estimated at $50,000.
