LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Vegas Strong Fund has announced it will officially break ground on the Forever One Memorial on Friday, Oct. 2, 2026, honoring the lives impacted by the 1 October tragedy.

The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. at the memorial site, located on the southwest corner of Reno Avenue and Giles Street. The groundbreaking is scheduled for the day after the ninth remembrance of the tragedy.

The Forever One Memorial is designed as a permanent tribute of hope, healing, and remembrance. It honors the 58 killed and more than 850 injured, and the extraordinary response of the Las Vegas community following the mass shooting on Oct. 1, 2017.

According to organizers, the ceremony marks the beginning of construction after years of community engagement, planning, and fundraising. Project partners, community leaders, survivors, and families of victims are expected to attend.

The Vegas Strong Fund aims to complete construction and open the memorial to the public by the 10th remembrance in October 2027.
