LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle that fled the scene Sunday night, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.
The collision happened at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Aug. 23 at South Nellis Boulevard and East Twain Avenue, police said.
Police said evidence collected at the scene showed a pedestrian was crossing Nellis Boulevard in or near the marked crosswalk, though the direction of travel is unknown.
An unknown gray sedan was traveling southbound on Nellis Boulevard in the middle of three travel lanes as it approached Twain Avenue, according to police. As the vehicle entered the intersection, it struck the pedestrian, projecting her forward onto the roadway, police said.
The gray sedan did not remain at the scene, police said. Investigators said the vehicle will have damage to the front portion and the windshield.
The pedestrian, described by police as an unknown-age female, was transported by medical personnel to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s Trauma Center, where she was admitted with life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Collision Investigation Section is investigating the crash.
