LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A driver has been arrested on DUI-related charges after a pedestrian was hit and killed early Saturday morning in the central valley.

According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, the collision occurred around 2:19 a.m. on Tropicana Avenue, just west of Edmond Street.

Police said a pedestrian was crossing northbound across Tropicana outside of a marked crosswalk when they entered the path of an oncoming vehicle. A Nissan Juke struck the pedestrian, according to investigators.

Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, where they pronounced the pedestrian deceased.

The driver of the Nissan stopped immediately after the crash and remained at the scene, police said. However, responding officers noted signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and booked into the Clark County Detention Center for DUI-related charges.

The crash remains under investigation.
