LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is expected to provide more details on an officer-involved shooting that killed a 29-year-old.
Police said it happened in the 4000 block of S. Maryland Parkway Wednesday around 7:41 p.m. near Flamingo Road.
Police said that a man armed with a knife robbed an individual outside of a retail store. When officers arrived, a foot pursuit of the suspect ensued and police said that “at some point, shots were fired.”
The suspect was killed and no officers were injured.
The Clark County Coroner identified the man killed by police as Ismael B. Castillo from Las Vegas. He died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Police identified the officer involved in the shooting as 42-year-old Sergeant Brett Brosnahan.
“He has been with LVMPD since 2009 and has been placed on routine paid administrative leave until a review of this incident has been completed,” police said.
Metro said the briefing will take place at 3 p.m. at headquarters. Assistant Sheriff Jamie Prosser is expected to provide the additional details.
