LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — A local pest control business is helping homeowners near Wetlands Park deal with a cockroach infestation.
FOX5 has been following the story for weeks after learning about a woman in the area whose home was overrun with cockroaches. Since then, multiple people living nearby have said they are having the same problem.
RidTechs Pest Control is now working to help homeowners get rid of the roaches. Exterminators say construction could be part of the problem, but a large part of the issue is likely the area itself.

“My thought would be that these are already just building in populations and what we’re seeing is an overflow of that. They actually will probably be more comfortable in those areas because they’ve got constant moisture, constant mulch and biomaterial, whereas around most homes you get a lot of rock,” said Grady Jones, entomologist and technical director at RidTechs.
Exterminators say to keep roaches out of homes, people should use bug lights outside, get rid of any mulch, and close any gaps that could let them in.
