LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Raiders will kick off their 2026 season a week from Sunday, when they host the Miami Dolphins. Nine-time Pro Bowler and Raiders legend Tim Brown shared his outlook on the upcoming season.
Brown on offseason moves
Brown said this year’s free agency class stands out compared to previous years.
“I think that when you look at the offseason and what they did with free agency, it’s the best free agency class that we’ve had,” Brown said.
Brown also pointed to the team’s draft class, including quarterback Fernando Mendoza and Mike Washington Jr.
“You know, we got guys who can make plays. Now we just got to go make plays. That’s what this thing is all about,” Brown said.

Brown referenced former head coach Jon Gruden’s arrival in 1998 as an example of putting accountability on players rather than coaches.
“One thing that Gruden did for us when he came here in ’98, he showed us that it was all on us. We weren’t making plays. It wasn’t a play call,” Brown said. “I think that’s what has to happen this year. They have to see that it’s you not making a play, and if you can get that in their heads, you got to make plays. That’s the name of the game.”
Brown on wide receivers stepping up
Head coach Klint Kubiak has called on the team’s wide receiver group to be more accountable this season.
When asked if he had any routes left in him, Brown smiled.
“I can still run. I can’t stop, though. I just keep running and just keep running,” Brown said. “But look, man, it would have been awesome to be able to play in this area, no doubt about it. But one of these guys got to step up. You got to feel it, man. You got to want it.”
Brown said he never approached the game with hype but focused on doing his job on the field.
“I was never one of those hype guys. That wasn’t me. I was pretty low-key about approaching the game, but when I stepped on the field, man, I knew I had a job to do and I was going to do everything in my power to make sure it happened,” Brown said.
